chikygrl13 02-11-2006, 05:14 AM I'm just wondering what really BAD movies are out there.
SO what is the ABSOLUTE WORST movie you've EVER seen?!
Mine's a toss up between Napoleon Dynamite and Hercules in New York (early Governator)
skibunny 02-11-2006, 07:34 AM I, too, was not impressed AT ALL with Napoleon Dynamite.
We rented it... and when it was over, i was like "THAT was IT??" definitely didnt think it was funny.
Theres about a million other bad movies I could list... but I am too tired and cranky.
Some Dude 02-11-2006, 08:07 AM See, the whole appeal is it's so stupid that it's cool. You know, just how young cool kids act, stupid, therefore it's cool.
I can't tell you how stupid I thought that movie was.
skibunny 02-11-2006, 08:24 AM I didn't think it was stupid. I love stupid movies. I thought it was boring. Everything. How they acted, what they said. YAWN.
Some Dude 02-11-2006, 08:42 AM I love stupid movies too. I just think it was a failed attempt at a good stupid movie.
I also believe that the type of people that liked that movie will like basically anything they are told to like.
Napoleon Dynamite for sure. I actually came here to post just that. I thought it was boring and a waste of time. And a lot of it was just mean.
Annie 02-11-2006, 12:50 PM Well, glad I didn't watch Napoleon Dynamite.
And yep, Waterworld sucked, and also The Postman...another crappy Kevin Costner movie....what happened to him after Dances with Wolves?
Others...hmm...I know there's lots but just can't think of them. OK, here's one: my ex wanted to watch this and I KNEW it was going to be soooooo bad...I'm even embarrassed to admit I watched it: 2 Fast, 2 Furious :o
There's a lot of movies out there that I wonder how they actually got funding to get produced..
chikygrl13 02-11-2006, 06:37 PM okay, ALL my students told me to go out and get Napoleon Dynamite. So I rented it, watched the first maybe two minutes drove back to Lackluster, threw it at the poor clerck and demanded my money back.
I swear I still want somebody to reimburse me for the hour it took to drive to the store, rent the film, watch the first 5 minutes or so. (I don't think I got through the credits!) and drive back to the store to argue with the people.
That's an hour of my life that I'm just NOT getting back!
skibunny 02-11-2006, 06:42 PM EXACTLY. That's what I tried to explain to people who think I'm weird for not liking that movie. Another example of a stupid movie was "Elf" with Will Farrell. I like him but his movies are shite.
Ahhh, we disagree.. I love Elf... and I love Will Ferrell movies!
all J LO movies.. well except selena, that was an ok movie.
also.. starship troopers, catwoman, son of the mask, dukes of hazzard, and kicking and screaming <will ferrells movie choices have really sucked lately>
fos4snt 02-11-2006, 08:27 PM Definitely agree with Son of Mask. GOD awful.
But... ah... I think y'all just need to be stoned and/or EX-stoners to really GET Napoleon Dynamite. I don't know why, but I honestly love the movie. Cracks me up everytime I see it. And YES, I've seen it more than once. And Litical loves it, too. :p Maybe it helps we KNOW people like that. Seriously.
IDIOT. Geez! LOL. Cracks me up. I'm sorry, but damn it was funny in a totally not meant to be funny to everyone kind of way. You just have to KNOW people like that.
I thought Troy was AWFUL. I mean, it was all hyped and I was REALLY let down. Maybe its cuz I'm into history and maybe its cuz Brad Pitt was in it (barf) and maybe its cuz he was all buffed out and a son of a GODDESS should NOT have been fakely buffed out... I dunno. The acting was ABOMINABLE. What a boring, boring, pathetic movie. Alexander the Great was better, but not by TOO much. *sigh* People just don't CARE about ACTING like they did in the old days... (I love AMC)
American Pyscho was a JOKE. Pathetic. Read the book. EXCELLENT book. AWFUL movie.
All in all, I try to AVOID bad movies like the plague. But the BEST bad movie ever was ATTACK of the Killer Tomatos! ROFLAO. BEST B movie ever made. I could sing the theme song STILL...
~phos
hellodolly 02-11-2006, 10:36 PM Thank you Fos!
I was stoned when I watched Napolean Dynamite and I loved every minute of it...even saw it in my right mind and still laughed...there was something about it that I related to...sorry folks...but it was hilarious!
WORST MOVIE: "THE HORSE WHISPERER" and that stupid broadcaster/journalism movie also starring Rob. Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer.
jesique 02-12-2006, 12:43 AM THANK YOU PHOS!!!
I LOVED Napolean Dynamite!!! :D "But my lips hurt real bad!"
Bad bad movies:
Mission to Mars
American Psycho
Dumb and Dumberer
Anything with JLo...with the exception of "The wedding planner" which is watchable because of Matty.
Nadine.
chikygrl13 02-12-2006, 02:38 AM Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!!!!!!!! Oh that movie was FUNNY!!
J-Lo needs to be taken out back and beaten to a seriously bloody pulp!!
Can't act, can't sing, and needs to get her big ass out of my face!
Sorry... I just can't stand her! (or Ben Affleck come to think of it!)
Though I did like Salena, maybe it's cause J-Lo dies in the end!!
(and the little cholo's screaming "Salenas SALENAS!!)
And wedding planner was 1/2 way tolerable the first time around. (Though I hear, on good authority, that Matthew McCaungehy is Gay!)
Momma Nessa 02-12-2006, 10:39 AM can't even get through SPANGLISH--- horrible horrible horrible
don't watch many movies....
fos4snt 02-12-2006, 11:15 AM Odd. I liked Spanglish. Quite enjoyable and oddly endearing. But, not as cool as 50 First Dates. :D Dang that girl, Drew Barrymore, she's so darn cute.
~phos
Momma Nessa 02-12-2006, 11:16 AM I LOVE 50 first dates and you know how i feel about adam.....
and yeah i liked four brothers last night.
jesique 02-12-2006, 12:36 PM (Though I hear, on good authority, that Matthew McCaungehy is Gay!)
YOU SHUT YOUR DIRTY MOUTH!!! :D *grin*
No way. Any man from Texas who looks that good and plays the bongos naked in his house can NOT be gay.
Next you'll be trying to tell me that Clay Aiken is gay!
(I should tell yall about the dream I had with Clay Aiken and Matty McCaungehey) Mmmmmmm.
Nadine.
Annie 02-12-2006, 12:38 PM LOL Nadine...:D
Yep...Matty is HOT!
chikygrl13 02-12-2006, 03:19 PM but Clay Aiken IS GAY!!!!!!!!!
jesique 02-12-2006, 07:24 PM *covering my ears*
LALALALALALALLALALALAL
I'm not listening! :D
Nadine.
hellodolly 02-12-2006, 08:47 PM Clay Aiken is GAY?? WHAA?? That's...that's so...SO SHOCKING...I....I....I think I....need to sit down....having.trouble.brea...th.......................
Thank you. Thank you. Don't forget to tip your waitress. *Clap Clap*
Some Dude 02-12-2006, 09:00 PM I thought Spanglish was beautiful.
"Enough" was a decent J Lo movie and I am so not a J Lo fan.
Some Dude 02-12-2006, 09:23 PM I haven't seen it yet, but I'm gonna go ahead and put the new pink panther movie in here. I'd be really suprised if I liked it judging from the previews.
jesique 02-13-2006, 01:08 AM I haven't seen it yet, but I'm gonna go ahead and put the new pink panther movie in here. I'd be really suprised if I liked it judging from the previews.
Ditto.
Plus I'm pissed cuz Alec informed me that there is no cartoon actual pink panther in the movie. Therefore the boycott continues.
Nadine.
Italian Angel 02-13-2006, 01:46 AM I hated "Not Another Teen Movie". I know it's supposed to be a silly raunchy teen sex comedy, but it was just stupid. American Pie was a hell of alot funnier... but for the best of the best see "Fast Times At Ridgemont High".

I liked not another teen movie, but big "hell yeah" on fast times.
chikygrl13 02-13-2006, 01:59 AM See I was the brat that actually ordered the pizza to my English class!!! (my history teacher was cool!) and now I am a teacher! Figure that one out???
I'll join the "I hate Napoleon Dynamite" bandwagon. Everyone talked about it like it was a big cult hit, so I was pretty disappointed to find it wasn't that funny. A couple funny parts, but still, blah.
I also thought the Spielberg/Cruise remake of War of the Worlds last summer sucked.
ReiRei 02-17-2006, 05:17 PM but Clay Aiken IS GAY!!!!!!!!!
Clay Aiken is SO NOT GAY!!!! :p
Worst movies...lets see...
Wedding Planner and Maid in Mahatten (s/p)
chikygrl13 02-17-2006, 11:59 PM Clay Aiken is SO NOT GAY!!!! :p

I'm sorry, SO not cute!~!
and welcome to the "we hate j-lo fan club!!"
SierraNevada 02-18-2006, 04:44 PM Team America World Police and Before Sunset.
These are two of the RARE movies that I actually couldn't finish. I mean...just...god...awful movies. Even in bad movies I can find some value in its awfulness....like its so bad its funny type of thing. But these two were just boring...and bad.

i agree with you. i also wanted to add "the fog" supposedly a horror movie?, it was terrible.
fos4snt 02-18-2006, 07:10 PM I thought Saw SUCKED. I mean, come on, how can you NOT laugh at the Princess Bride guy? I laughed through the whole freakin' movie ~ but it was THE worst "horror" I've ever seen.
~phos
chikygrl13 02-19-2006, 01:50 AM I will not watch horror flicks on principle!
My brothers used to hold me down on the couch and hold my eyelids open (much like Clockwork Orange) while they watched Creepshow. I STILL get nightmares!!!!!!
Team America had one redeaming feture...
Rent is one of my favorite musicals, and I loved how they made fun of it with the show "Lease".
"Aids! Everyone has Aids!!"
ReiRei 02-20-2006, 11:19 AM How can I forget?? That new movie Bewitched! I thought it was horrible!
Ninjababe 02-21-2006, 04:16 PM Being a big dorky gamer that I am, the WORST movie I have ever seen would have to be Street Fighter the Movie staring Jean-Claude Van Damme. I can’t believe I spent $4 (back in my days) for this stupid movie. Whoever wrote the script for this movie obviously has not played the game. The script was horrible……blah, blah, blah…. I’ll leave it at that.
elle.jay 02-28-2006, 04:12 PM I thought Spanglish was beautiful.
"Enough" was a decent J Lo movie and I am so not a J Lo fan.
I liked Spanglish too! And "Enough" was pretty good...!!
I recently saw "Date Movie." I figured it would be good because it was from the makers of Scary Movie, and I thought that was funny.
It was so not funny.
It was dumb.
Like, 13 year olds kind of dumb.
Don't waste your money on Date Movie.
lj
Crysania 03-01-2006, 01:59 PM Wow...I'm really glad I didn't see Napoleon Dynamite...now I know not to bother!
Worst movies I've ever seen:
Phantom of the Opera - the new ALW movie...wow how BAD could they make it? Great musical - horrible movie.
Cool World was also up there - turned it off after the first 15 minutes.
Waterworld - great music, bad movie
Hocus Pocus (I think that's what it's called - the one with Bette Midler and others as witches)...I walked out of the theatre it was so awful
~Crysania
Momma Nessa 03-01-2006, 02:35 PM i almost never walk out of theathers but i did walk out on Hocus Pocus
hellodolly 03-01-2006, 02:42 PM Don't waste your money on Date Movie.
Oh goodie, I thought I was the only one. I pray for that two hours of my life back.
skibunny 03-01-2006, 02:51 PM Don't waste your money on Date Movie.
May I just be the first to say:
DUH
ReiRei 03-01-2006, 04:26 PM Phantom of the Opera - the new ALW movie...wow how BAD could they make it? Great musical - horrible movie.
Being a HUGE Phantom fan myself...I LOVED the movie! They did everything beautifully I thought...though the Phantom could of been better..he looked the part, but he couldn't sing very well :( BUt other then that, I thought it was beautiful...

I'm a huge fan myself...have been for about 16 years. I even run a message board for it and an active livejournal community (besides owning recordings in a few foreign languages, bootlegs, etc.). But to me the movie was disappointing on SO many levels. The Phantom was too young and couldn't sing. Christine was too young and couldn't sing well enough for such a part. The whole thing was far too "young and sexy" for a story which SHOULD have an older man (50ish) and younger woman (20ish) as the main characters (and as age gap relationship people we should be offended that they took much of that out of it ;) ) not some young hot chick and a young hot guy with a tiny mask on. I was so unhappy. I walked out of it and immediately put my OLC on (of course - I KNEW it was going to be bad - I'd seen pictures and heard the soundtrack before going, so I knew what I was getting into!).

Well, they wanted a young cast for some reason...I watched the making of it...and I agree on the Phantom...he was almost perfect in looks *the way I pictured him since I was 9 years old* But yeh, older....and as for the girl is played Christine Daae..she was good. I've had vocal training for years *but don't get me wrong, I'm not a professional* And I have been taught to lession to sour notes...yeh, the girl had a couple of screw ups, I admit...but I thought she did very well for her age.
But then again...you probably saw it on stage, I never got the pleasure of seeing it on stage *tear* :(

Oh! *cries* Go see it on stage if you ever get a chance! It's absolutely breathtakingly amazing. There's so much there that you didn't get to see - including the Point of No Return bench scene which is just wonderfully sensual...and a lot of other truly neat stuff...like the staging in Music of the Night. *le sigh*
*comes out of Phantom stupor*
For her age, she does well, but I always felt Christine should have an amazingly clear and unique voice - something that would have taken Paris like storm. But, Emmy sounded like a good high school soprano, which just wasn't enough for me.
Schumacher did want a younger cast - I was never sure why...my impression was that he didn't think the movie would sell to teens if they had older people in it. *sigh* Don't they realize that teens everywhere fell in love with this story even WITH older people in the rolls?

Well...Schumacher isn't the best director out there, so I heard. I think he slaughtered one of the Batman movies (Batman and Robin I think, that was a BAD movie..)
I heard that Micheal Crawford wanted to play the Phantom in the movie..but they said he was "too old" for the role...but isn't the Phantom suppose to be in his 50's?

Yeah...Schumacher is well known for destroying movies. I was never quite sure why ALW chose him.
Michael did want to play the part - and in fact a lot of people wanted him to...There was even a huge webpage devoted to it, with donations and ads we took out in Variety. I'm good friends with the woman who once ran the site (I think it's still online at www.phantommovie.com). And yes, they thought he was too old...and yep...the Phantom is supposed to be about 50ish or so.

That's too bad...I'll check out the site...they should of casted him as the Phantom and me as Christine! (ahahahaha...right)

I don't know about the first movie you mentioned, but Before Sunset is one of my all time favorite movies. I just adored it. Maybe it's because you never saw the first one...Before Sunrise.
Worst movie ever is The Rules of Attraction. I felt so cheated. It was horrid.
