Zakem just sent me this link. It's a great read for anyone who's concerned about having kids when the man is a lot older. :)

Finally Ready To Be a Dad (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14171936/from/ET/)

I was worried that waiting until late in life to have kids was a mistake. It turned out to be the best decision I ever made.

That was actually a really cool article. :D Like I said before, one of my best life long friends and most responsible guys I know is the son of a much older Dad. His siblings were born some 20+ years before he was. His Dad was 60. Lived well into this late 80s and raised a GREAT kid.

Yes, I was very touched that Hubby read it and then sent it to me. :)

I think it's mainly us younger ones that have so many concerns. My SO isn't worried about having a kid later in life at all. I'm the one who freaks out. The article was touching though. Thanks for posting it!

Should I just send it to him out of the blue? Do I go my normal route and just say....hey....read this! lol.

Nadine.

Just email it to him. It's just an article anyway.

I think that older dad's are ALOT more responsible and mature in order to handle the responsibilites of being a dad other than the "dads" who are in their 30's...
I have 2 children with men my age and neither one of the dad's ar in my kids lives. My SO who is 50 absolutely LOVES!!! being a dad and would do anything for his kids...

Well, I could say almost the same thing about Litical, who is 21 and was 19 when he moved in with me and my kids. Litical is AWESOME with the kids. I mean, absolutely TERRIFIC.

The almost only applies to the fact that both my kids Dad's ARE in their lives. ;) But Litical is the 80% of the time MAN figure in both their lives.

It's not always about age, and sometimes, age really IS just a number.

Well, somehow babies came up the other night, and he was telling me he "doesn't know if he wants to have one." *sigh* I hate to say it, but CAN'T and NOT are two different things...and one is a deal breaker for me. I just can't deny myself that.
