Ectopic Pregnancy

Anyone around here ever had an ectopic pregnancy? Did you still have a normal period? And has anyone ever had a period and still been pregnant?

I know this sounds insane and you'd think I was a young woman who'd never had children, but when you spazz....you don't think logically.

I've had my tubes tied and I have had one period since Hawaii, but I'm late and I'm never late, not three days late. Yes, I know I'm obsessive, which is why Mr. Beefy's thread drove me so crazy.

I have no symptoms that I had with both my others, which was a weird metal tate when eating chicken and I had chicken today. It's just stress? Right?

I couldn't possibly handle going through an ectopic pregnancy right now on top of everything else. I would completely feel like a loser then.

Ectopic pregnancies are usually accompanied by symptoms, severe abdominal pain being one of them. I'd chock this one up to stress, hon. School's starting, things are wonky with Adam, all that yuckness.

Here's what an ectopic is generally like:

The most common symptoms and findings of ectopic pregnancy are:

* an overdue period (suggesting pregnancy)

* bleeding from the vagina

* positive pregnancy test

* lower abdominal pain

* fainting.

At first an ectopic pregnancy develops like a normal pregnancy and the same symptoms such as nausea and tender breasts will be present. However, some women do not have these symptoms and do not suspect that they might be pregnant.

The vaginal bleeding can vary from being slight or brown vaginal discharge to being like a normal period.

If you are pregnant and have a long-lasting throbbing in one side of your lower abdomen or if you experience sudden pain you should contact your doctor. This is important because an ectopic pregnancy can be life-threatening if it ruptures and causes internal bleeding.

It sounds like stress to me too, Shan. Aren't you starting a new job? Then everything with Adam.....lots of stress. Mine manifested itself as a rash all over my face and neck that's taken almost a week to get under control. Stress can ravage our bodies....

But if you continue to be late you really should see your doctor....

yea,I had one ,almost killed me .I needed blood transfusions ,hemorrhaged internally ..was about 1 hour away from death...thought i was dieing ..oh yea I was. had emergency surgery at Shands hospital in Gainesville and the expert surgeon who was visiting from Ca said he has NEVER seen an ectopic pregnancy that far along and that my tolerance for pain would have had to be unbelievable to with stand it...it is..My fallopian tube was ripped to shreds ,the fetus inside was almost 3 months they told me...big enough to tell the sex...hell I thought I was passing some kind of kidney stone from the pain...I didn't know ,I had never had a kid...this was 8 years ago.... really didn't think I was in that bad of shape until the night before when I old blood started pouring out of my mouth, and I was sitting in a cold tube of water to try and cool down.....since I was bleeding to death internally all I felt was weak....why didn't I go to the doctor some may ask....I'm afraid of doctors and I had fallen a month before while loading a horse on a van and thought it may just be something from the fall,or that stupid kidney stone thing I had read about...stupid maybe,but I figured I would just get better on my own....yea,I know what it's like to have a really bad one of these.

I agree it's probably just stress from all the emotional stuff you are going through. Going to the doctor won't hurt, though, if he/she can tell you for sure that there is nothing wrong, then you might get some peace of mind..?

thanks Trish,so many things I hate to bring up.I just decided to answer this question because it said had anyone ever had one of these.I did not want children anyway.It was very stupid of me to ignore being that sick for so long and when the "expert" Doc asked how I could have withstood that kind of pain and not known something was wrong,I felt rather stupid.The fetus they told me was somewhere between 10-12 weeks.They told me I was about 1 hour away from dieing,but I lived and everything turned out fine....I don't even refere to it as being pregnant,if I speak of it(which I don't much,like a lot of other things) I just say the time I was real sick.
