Emzak 02-22-2006, 07:41 PM C'mon...you know who I'm talking about.
What's that novel/poem/short story/screenplay that you've been working on for months and months, unbeknownst to anyone other than you and that spot on the wall?
Time to come out of the closet and confess! :D
fos4snt 02-22-2006, 08:41 PM I've written poems and short stories most of my life, but I don't really anymore. I write stuff on forums, which are my "life" stories. But, I don't really have time to get into the whole drawn out imagination stuff I use to do... I have a few poems published in an anthology. :D

I can't write to save my life. I wish I could though, I'd like to write some alternate history.

You mean like what would happen if the South had won the Civil War? :)

Wow I didn't know that. You're like super-duper multi-talented!

Yeah, stuff like that.
Emzak 02-22-2006, 10:36 PM My first book would definitely be a children's book. I have one in mind, recounting a kindness one child showed to another. Then there are the imaginary adventures of my cat, Todd.
You should totally do that! I think it would be awesome.
fos4snt 02-23-2006, 10:42 AM Yeah, stuff like that.
OoOoOo another book recommendation for Poll. ;) Orson Scott Card's Alvin Maker series. Starts with "The Seventh Son" Here is a link to the info:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0812533054/sr=8-18/qid=1140705535/ref=sr_1_18/103-6922404-1341423?%5Fencoding=UTF8
Basically, the premise is sort of like what you mean ~ early Americana, only where magic (knacks) really exist and really work. Alvin is the seventh son of a seventh son, which by the laws of magic, means he is very knacky. There is a LOT of really cool historical stuff in there, and I believe you would quite enjoy the series. There is only one major writers screw up in the whole series, but I won't blow it for ya ~ LOL. I'd make a very good editor. HIS editors didn't pick it up ~ after The Crystal City was released, I went onto their forum (www.hatrack.com) an mentioned the "error" and they were like... OMG! HOW did we miss that? LOL BUT, its an otherwise stunning, well written, very interesting series... for certain.

jesique 02-23-2006, 11:40 AM I want to write a book so bad...I just don't have the patience or the disipline to sit down and actually crank it out.
I wanna write a novel loosely based on Alec's and my relationship...using emails...IM chats...phone calls, ect.
I think it would rock. *GRIN*
Nadine.

Thanks for the heads up ;) I'll check 'er out.
Emzak 02-23-2006, 12:56 PM I always wanted to be a writer, well that was one of the MANY things I had a fantasy of doing. How about you Emzak? Are you the next John Grisham?
Ha, I wish! I would LOVE to write a historical novel (real history, not alternate--sorry Poll :) ), but I always get hung up on the research stage. I will become so fascinated with the historical period I'm researching that I'll just read and read and read. The next thing I know, two years have passed and I haven't written jackshit. I did this with medieval Japanese history (I wanted to write a samurai novel like James Clavell's SHOGUN). Now, I'm obsessed with 1920s Shanghai and I would love to write a Chinese GODFATHER. This time I'm forcing myself to come up with the storyline first, THEN research. :D
I write checks every now and then and each one is personally signed by me.
Romina 02-25-2006, 11:16 AM I used to write when I was living in California to make me feel better, I was depressed because that was my first time I lived without my mom for a whole year (yep, I LOVE her so much:))
