Haha...I'm gonna get in trouble for this...but it's soooo worth it.

I got Alec to sign up for his very own membership here...and he's sleeping now so I went ahead and put a great pic of him for his avatar and changed his mood to Asleep....which he currently is. :D

So I thought yall could say Hi to Alec and when he wakes up and checks there will be things for him to read! :D

Thanks yall!
Nadine.

I could do it with my SO, but he'd never read nor post. Besides, I might get into trouble with some of the things I've written.

Greetings everyone! I'm a wake now. Have been for a long while.

Actually, I'm not surprised Jesique did this to . . . I mean for me.

Yeah, I know it took me some time to sign up here, but I have an alterior motive. I want to talk sailboats with Salt and he doesn't do normal e-mail.

Emzak, I thought "Here Comes the Bride" or THE Wedding March came from Mendelsohn's "A Midsummer's Night Dream". My Dad, an Episcopal priest, hates it!

"Here Comes the Bride" and "The Wedding March" are two separate musical pieces.

"Here Comes the Bride", generally played as the bride walks down the aisle towards the alter, is the Bridal Chorus from Wagner's opera "Lohengrin".

"The Wedding March", generally played after the ceremony as the bride and groom leave the altar, comes from Mendelssohn's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", as you said.

Which one does your dad hate? :D

Sorry, Em, Lohengrin is not one of Wagner's I'm that familar with. Parts and pieces of Tristan & Isolde and the Ring Cycle, of course, but not Lohengrin. I never realized they were two different pieces of music.

But now that I understand, I believe that it is "Here Comes the Bride" that makes my Father cringe. He would do his best to convince brides to choose something else.

I feel the same way, Shan. I've gotten all the latest gossip and good dirt from Jesique for so long I don't feel a stranger here at all.

I know what you mean. I feel that both pieces are so overused and I didn't want to use either for my wedding. For the processional, I picked another Wagner piece ("Pilgrims Chorus" from Tannhauser). And for the recessional, I picked Beethoven's "Ode to Joy".

What music are you guys using?
