Today on the hot seat is one of my favorite newer members. She is strong, smart, and stands up for what she believes in. She also has a crazy mother like me.

Who am I talking about???? It's BandT16yrs, of course! ;) :D

http://www.mindtheagegap.com/forum/image.php?u=646&dateline=1173632251

Let's begin...

Tell us about your very first date with Bryn. What did you guys do?

http://www.mindtheagegap.com/forum/image.php?u=646&dateline=1173632251:

We never had a first official date. We had known each other for 2 or 3 weeks. We were supposed to get together for a movie and I cancelled because I got nervous. It wasn't a date, but I knew that night we were going to share a kiss. He showed up at my door with a couple of DVDs and we just relaxed, talked, watched one of the movies, had a pillow fight with the couch pillows, kissed a little bit, and fell asleep cuddled up on the couch watching one of the other movies.

Do you believe in horoscopes? What's your sign?

http://www.mindtheagegap.com/forum/image.php?u=646&dateline=1173632251:

I don't believe in horoscopes, but I do believe in astrology. I am an Aries all the way. Read about Aries, your reading about me.

What's the best place you've ever traveled to?

http://www.mindtheagegap.com/forum/image.php?u=646&dateline=1173632251:

The Grand Canyon. I went to visit my brother when he lived in Arizona because he couldn't come home for Christmas. We drove up to the Canyon on Christmas Day and hiked into the Canyon the day after. That was the best place I have ever been.

If you could have any job in the world, what would you pick, and why?

http://www.mindtheagegap.com/forum/image.php?u=646&dateline=1173632251:

Something working with the environment or animals, because I love the outdoors and I love nature.

Tell us two truths and one lie--the other members will be asked to guess which is which.

http://www.mindtheagegap.com/forum/image.php?u=646&dateline=1173632251:

1. I love bungee jumping. It is the most amazing adrenaline rush.
2. I'm a writer. I have written over 100 poems and a few short stories.
3. My brother lives with me. He used to be in the Army. When he returned, he argued excessively with my other brother so when I bought my house he moved here.

I've really been looking forward to this one because you have a similar gap as Carol and I.

I'm gonna say #2, but I have a feeling it's just a technicality.

Cool... You were looking forward to this. Yay

It makes me kinda hope that you chose correctly... but alas, I cannot divulge such information yet.

3 seems to be very popular.

hmmmm If it were a popularity contest, 3 would clearly be the lie. But its not a popularity contest... so

I am going with #1, but just because I would have a heart attack or something so I would never do it.

Why'd you quote me? I didn't say anything about a heart attack. I only guessed one as the lie....I didn't give a reason....

lol...most of my adrenaline comes from making love and it lassssssts longer than a bungee jump! I have never tried bungee jumping though...I'd probably pee myself. I am thinking you are the same way!;) :D

I could very well be the same way.
But perhaps, I have done it and did pee myself, and never did it again.
Or I could have pee'd, but did it again to prove I could do it without peeing.

hmmm... I suddenly have the urge to pee.

ok, ok

I'm going backwards...

3. Yes my brother does live with me for the reason stated. He rents my basement apartment and a awesome discount. Good for me too because I don't have someone I don't know here.

2. I am definitely a writer, an extremely private one. I have written a great deal, but have not YET published anything. Some day I will get around to it. Until then nobody gets to read anything I write.

1. Big Huge Lie!!!! I like a wide variety of activities, but not bungee jumping. No Way. I love an adrenaline rush, but there is no possible way I am going to jump anywhere attached to a bungee... Its not going to happen. I'll jump out of a plane, I'll dive off a cliff, I'll go spelunking (sp?), I'll explore the dark recesses of the bottom of the ocean, I'll do lots of things, but... no bungee jumping for me... no way, no how, not going to happen. ever.

Really!!! That's outstanding. Good Luck! Did you get a copyright first? I heard its fairly easy to do. That is primarily why I haven't tried to get anything published yet...

Copyrighting is super easy. All you really have to do is put the word copyright the year and your name on the work, and it's done. I learned this when a friend of mine was sued for copyright infringement, and he proved he had copyrighted the work first. He won the case.

Really, i didn't know it was that easy. But what is to stop someone from putting an earlier date and saying it is theirs? I thought that you had to send it in to the government or something and get copyright rights or something like that.

Ooooo... maybe I will publish my poems then, at least some of them. I think I have around 120 or so.

Blinocac200sx
04-23-2007, 11:28 AM
When you get something published, that certifies the date. Thats why it's good to go through an established publishing house.

Trish
04-23-2007, 11:56 AM
What Blino is talking about is called de facto copyright. If you want to be able to prove the date that you established the copyright, you can mail the works to yourself and not open the envelope. The postmark will establish the date.

I was a Communications major when I went back to school at 40. That's what my degree is in. I had wonderful professors who are professionals in all aspects of media.

One of my professors (our department chair), who became my mentor and my friend, taught a media ethics class. He had also been involved in a lawsuit regarding copyright issues.

I had heard that, but someone told me a few months ago that isn't accepted anymore. It makes a lot of sense provided it is in an envelope that you can't steam open. Thanks, now I know. I'm going to print what I have and mail it to myself. Maybe registered mail because that has signatures on the seal. :D :D

A copyright won't work for the name "MIND THE age GAP"--it has to be a trademark (or, technically, a service mark). ;)
