So I'm out doing yard work with the noisy leaf blower when I notice a pigeon. This guy was obviously out of place. He didn't seem scared of me, but I just said hi and went back to work. Well the little guy followed me around a bit then took off I guess. Later that night I came outside and there he was on my car! I was able to get with a couple feet of him and that's when I noticed he had a tag on both legs. Now it was clear I had to help this guy. So after some research and talking to people online I learned he was from a couple hours away. I was able to talk to a guy on the phone that is the one who administers the tags. He said it is his tag but he needs the number on it. Well the number he needs is covered with dirt and I can't get it!! So ever since I found out I have to catch him he's done nothing but stay on top of my house or other high places on the property. At one point we had him eating seed a foot away. We just didn't know we should have caught him. So for two days I've been waiting for him to come down to me. It's testing my patience!

Part 2:
Last night Naya got home late like normal then realized she had a key and had to go back to work. So five minutes after she left she calls me and says she just saw some piece of shit (my words) drop a dog off in front of the house. Well there was no way I was gonna sleep knowin a dog could be ran over in front of our house. She told me he was all white medium sized. So I sat there looking out the window and right when I was about to go back to bed I see him. She got one part right, he's pretty white. But medium? Oh hell no. He's a big boy!! An American Bulldog. Jesus tits their heads are HUGE!! So I went out and got him to come to me. He was one scared boy. Turns out he's a really sweet potty trained somewhat obedient dog. He knows some basic commands and is doing really good. I took him to the vet and he does have a chip. It's still registered to the SPCA. They gave me the name, phone, and address of the "owner". Haven't been able to get ahold of them. So right now we don't know what we're doing. Most likely taking him to the SPCA in hopes they contact the guy. Naya is pretty intimidated by him, and I am a bit too. But he's not been aggressive in any way and is way cool with Pete. But when we get our other dogs back we think there might be a problem. I know a guy who has several American Bulldogs and not only enters them in pulling competitions but judges them, so I called him and he told me about the breed. He said they are very loyal and nice and gentle, love kids. He said most think they are pitbulls and get scared. But he said they aren't like pits and are very good family dogs. So yeah, he looks mean as hell, but he's really a sweet sweet dog...

I LOOOOVE bulldogs! They really are sweet by nature. I've been around a few in Georgia (people would buy the breed because of the "Bulldogs" football team) and they were always big sweethearts. They are intimidating because of the size and what they're capable of, but in my experience they're big lovers.

What kind of asshole drops an animal off?!:mad::mad: I'm glad the dog was dropped off near people that have genuine hearts. It could have been a lot worse.:(

What are the plans for the dog?

Any luck with the pigeon? That is so random.

I don't know what we're going to do. Naya and I are going to talk about it more tomorrow. I called a Indiana bulldog rescue, but they only do English bulldogs. That seems the be the case with pretty much all the ones I've found online. I just don't think we can keep him. We tried that before and it made our dogs unhappy, which made us unhappy. I do think this guy is a lot more stable than the last dog, but still. He really is a sweet dog. The cat isn't happy though.

Leroy, which is what I named the pigeon, is either going to stick around until I catch him or he'll go on his way. But from what I've read he'll most likely stick around. What worries me about that is when it gets busier here and when we set off fireworks. If he can survive through all that, then he's welcome to stay. Not like I can make him leave.

hoping the pigeon and the pitbull dont fight it out for staying rights!!! American pitbulls arent allowed here as there have been some really bad maulings of small people, from supposed family dogs. Pete has his usual nonchalant attitude on, I see.

While on dog subject and Zoo environments....we recently got a dog from animal rescue for my son, he is a border collie/belgian shepherd cross, very badly abused but has responded really well to dog club and lots of love and is now exercising lounge rights etc. He goes with my son to his dad's one week out of two. On the week he is here he and my other dog dig massive excavations all over the yard, Im talking holes four foot deep and three foot wide everywhere. The little dog disappears down them. When they are alone on the off weeks neither digs, but boy do they make up for it when together. They arent bored, have lots of bones to chew, dont actually bury anything in the holes, and dont do anything else naughty.....any ideas on how to manage it or what might be causing it.....seriously we are stumped, as are the dog club people....

This guy is not a pitbull. They come from similar backgrounds but they are two different dogs.

Remember Chance from homewad bound? Or Petey from the little rascals?

Those two are American bulldogs. Chiky, what you posted is an English bulldog. There's also a french bulldog. AB's are quite a bit taller than an English, and French bulldogs are fairly small.

AB's and pits are very commonly thought of as the same. They do share some bloodline, but they are two different dogs. Both, when raised in a good home, are very sweet, loyal, and protective when need be.

He's a racing pigeon. They let a bunch go miles from home and they see who gets back first. Pretty interesting to me.

LOL, you guys have your hands full! Good luck with catching the pigeon. Do you have a fish net? I have to use ours to get birds out of our house periodically (there's a stupid bird that flies down our chimney, not kidding).

Catscratch, my dog likes to dig holes too. He carves out "nests" to lay in, especially when it is hot out. Honestly, the only way I can stop it is to bury dog droppings in the hole when I fill it back in. My dog won't dig in "poopy" areas. It sounds gross, but it's the only thing that works.

He only digs in areas where the grass is thin or there's some dirt already exposed. I used to cover these areas with chicken wire but my yard was looking really odd with all these wire patches. Instead, I scattered droppings in the areas he'd dug or that looked like he might want to dig in, covered this with soil and scattered grass seed on top. Only thing that works. I wouldn't want to do this if I had young kids using the yard, but my dog is pretty much the only critter out there.

Not my dog. He goes outside when shes not home and I yell at him when his nasty habits appear, like taking food off the table, or eating the cat food, or trying to play with the cats who dont want to play with him. He puked the outer day and I left it for her to clean...

Well the dog fucked up. Last night he took a chunk out of Pete's mouth. He had to get a staple this morning. I know that isn't that bad, but he was perfectly fine before the other dog came along. And now that dog is in the hands of the local animal shelter. I don't help dogs that fuck up my boy.

Well shit happens. If he is going to cause trouble like that he has to go. Lucky it was only minor.

Aw, that's too bad. You can't have a dog that's not going to fit in well though, given the pack you already have! Hopefully someone who doesn't have other pets or kids will adopt him.

Ugh. That's no good. :( Here's hoping the dog finds a home with people that are able to keep him in check. Sounds like he was trying to overpower Pete and challenge his status in the pack.

Dogs ARE tough. My dog has had some nasty injuries and he acts like he doesn't even feel them. Apparently some breeds (the working ones) have really high pain tolerance.

Meh, they are just battle wounds. Dogs have a different sense of pain than humans do anyways. Glad he's being tough.
