flu shots
Are you getting the flu shots this year? What about your kids?
My daughter's school is doing the H1N1 vaccine clinic, and I'm not sure whether she should get it. |

Flu jabs are only available to people over 65 here, so it's not an option if we even wanted it.
As for the swine flu vaccine, not too sure yet. We'll see how it goes and if they have enough for everyone. |

*Sigh* I don't do the regular flu shot and I don't want to get the H1N1 one either. I don't do vaccines unless I really need to. My SO however is quite concerned after reading a new study that came out indicating that H1N1 is hitting healthy people the hardest in Canada and particularly women with the median age of 32. He says he thinks he's going to get the shot. A young woman down the road from us died from it a month or so ago, but she had a prior health condition.
There's so much conflicting info out there about who it is affecting and why. Some reports say it affects those with strong immune systems but most say it, like any other virus, affects those with poor immune systems or a pre-existing health condition. It's hard to know what to believe. I'm also really concerned about what's in the vaccine and potential side effects - it just doesn't seem to be well tested. catscratch - what's your take on H1N1, having been through a winter flu season? |

Not a RATS chance in HELL.
Sorry... I'm vehement about it. There are a couple vaccines out them I'm okay about, but the flu shot is not one of them, especially the untested H1N1. No thanks. Take a LOT of Vitamin D instead. ![]() ~phos |

I got my first flu shot last year, but I got sick anyway.
I won't be getting the H1N1 vaccine. If you listen to doctors it's the same story just as it is with any virus: cover your mouth when coughing, stay home if you're sick (if you can), wash your hands frequently and don't touch your face. |

Once you have a strain in your body you won't get sick from it again. So they inject you with the flu they think is going to be strong that year and you won't get it. Sounds pretty fucking good to me!! Already got my normal flu shot and I'm sure I'll get the h1n1 when the mad rush for it cools off. Fuck getting sick when you can avoid it. Not wanting to get a flu shot makes me think of anti government conspiracy theory type shit. I just don't get it.

I just don't see the need for me personally. Last year was the first time I'd ever gotten one. I've gone all of my adulthood previously without getting a shot. I just don't like to take medications or get shots if I don't have to.

Better living through chemistry I say. That doesn't mean I'll take anything. But if something has been around awhile and it seems to not be harmful, then I'm all for it.

That's my point about the H1N1 SD... it HASN'T been around for a while and if you look back at the 1976 "swine flu" scare and the fact more people were injured by the vaccine than the virus... yeah. Right.
And lots of people are injured by the flu vaccine, too. Plus, you're injecting yourself with mercury with the thimerosal they use as a preservative. Perhaps you should do more research. I'd rather take my chances with the flu then end up with alzheimers. ~phos |

This is the problem in America. The government says its good, so it must be.

The h1n1 is made the exact same way as the other "normal" flu shot.
There are TONS of doctors that do not work for the government that support the shot. I think some of the problem with America is anti government simply because the government exist. Believe me, I'm not "yay America!!!". I think our country sucks in so so so so soooooooooo many ways. We're arrogant pieces of shit, actually.
