The big V...

Just made an appointment at a urologist. They said I could go under the knife as soon as next friday. I can NOT wait to get this done so that I know that I will never ever ever ever have children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! If you've always been sure you don't want kids and Naya is 100% sure she doesn't want to be a mom you're doing the responsible thing.

Personally, I'd rather someone get cut instead of having a child they never wanted. I was at the grocery store the other day and while I was in the check out line I was reading the back of some stain remover. The cashier asked what sort of stain I was trying to get out and I told her I'd been dog sitting so my oldest marked and the stain cleaner I was buying was the only one that works in my experience. She asked how old my dog was and I told her almost 14. She said, "Well, he should die soon!" I told her I wanted a few more years with him and she said she didn't know how I could put up with an old dog, that I shouldn't have kids either. She said, "Take my advice. Don't have kids. They drain you emotionally and financially. I have three kids of my own and I'm so glad they're out of my house!" I said, "To each their own." As I was leaving the store I grew annoyed with her wondering how her kids would feel if they had heard their mom speak of them in such a way. Don't want kids? Do everyone a favor and don't have them. Otherwise you usually are the shittiest of parents and set your kid up for many emotional problems.

Let us know how it goes! Upby19 is going to get cut after we have a child and I'm sure he'll be interested to know about the pain and recovery time. Good luck!

Congrats! I know you've been wanting to do that for a while.

And GF, what an annoying cashier! Why can't people just mind their own business. If someone had said that to me while I was still trying to conceive, I think I might have clobbered them.

As for the big V, Zak said it wasnt too bad--certainly not as bad as getting it reversed!

Congrats, SD. I know you've got your family and you're happy. Pete is such a cutie anyway. And I agree with GF entirely... if you don't want kids, don't have them. While I LOVE mine and in no way find them a burden, some people just prefer to have their lives and they should definitely have it that way.

So, hats off you to, man. Hope it goes well and speedy recovery time, too.

I'm really looking forward to saying "Naya, I need a bag of peas for my balls".

Hell I might just start asking for that now.

Good deal SD! Stupid question...does your insurance cover it?

Alec wants to get this done but for now we're good with my 10 year IUD.

Nadine.

We're not sure yet. We have a high deductible so we're thinking it's not going to cover much. It should seeing as it's a LOT cheaper then having a kid. Oh well, it's well worth it even if I have to pay a grand or so.

Out of curiousity, if you don't mind me asking, do you know exactly, or even approximately, how much this is going to cost? I saw that you said you weren't sure that your insurance would cover it, so that leads me to believe it would be on the lower end of the spectrum of medical costs.

David wants to have this done, and I haven't had a lot of luck getting price figures for it. My mother said that it can be done right in the doctor's office, so she guessed it probably wouldn't be too outrageous. Outrageous is a matter of opinion though, as we don't have tons and tons of money lying around, and we have no insurance at the moment.

Insurance is going to pay 90%, which would make it about $200 out of pocket.

I'm postponing it for now cause I wasn't liking the doctor. Then they changed the day they wanted to do it and it totally screwed up my schedule and I couldn't do it. So I'll have to get it done later.

If you don't like your doctor you should definitely find a new one. I wouldn't want someone I didn't feel good about slicing into my private parts.
